- I used a printer for my old PC with port LPT1 and it worked great and easy install. now with my new laptop I have to use the USB port. I have the USB to printer cable; the laptop recognizes it as a printer being plugged in to the USB port, but I am having a tough time printing from the laptop. I have tried using the same driver disk that came with the printer I used on my pc and it wont work. I also tried using the add printer function and still no avail. I have been selecting port USB001. The printer is set to default, it says 'ready' and is in the online mode. I have never printed from a USB port on anything before. The printer is a Minolta '1250W' laser printer. ?
