canon related FAQ- How do I print with only one color in my Windows OS setup?
- We have an older Gateway computer that has not been used for a while. The computer isn't hooked up to the internet so we can't download anything onto it. We are using the computer to type up papers (needed it for a secretary to use). We bought a new printer (HP or Canon D1400) and we put in the disc that came with it before plugging it in the comp to make sure it gets installed correctly. During the installation it stops and says it cannot find any USB ports. There are 2 on the back of the computer which we used the day before with a mouse (at first it didn't work till we rebooted). We plugged the printer in and rebooted. The computer didn't recognize any new devices and had the same problem with the installation. We tried the wizard and didn't find the printer model for it. We were wanting to know if using the repair on the XP disc would fix the problem or what else we could do to solve this?
- I cannot find my preferred software feature for my Canon printer in my Vista installation. Where can I find these features?
- I have loved my Canon ip400 printer since I bought it about 5 years ago. I have always used Canon ink for it but I bought some 'compatible' ink recently, but it's been completely screwed up ever since. I've tried the nozzle check, cleaning and deep cleaning (a hundred times) and it will not print colors correctly. It has white lines through images and now it's not printing yellow even though I just replaced the cartridge. I am currently planning my wedding and I need to use my printer A LOT! I'm doing my own invitations, wedding programs, menu cards, etc. etc. I am going to be in real trouble soon if I don't figure this out. I just went online and found a printer by Lexmark that I like but I'm wondering if it's too cheap to work well It's the Lexmark X8350 Office All-in-One Plus Photo. What do you think What's the best I can get for around $200 I appreciate any advice you have.?

- I cannot find my preferred software feature for my Canon printer in my Vista installation. Where can I find these features?
- I purchased a tested refill pg40 for my Canon PIXMA ip1800. Now when I go to print, it says black ink not recognized. I have disabled the ink level monitor, power cycled it, cleaned it, re-installed drivers. It flashes the amber light 5 times which according to Canon is a print head error. I can put the old one back in and it does not give an error. Any suggestions?
- I have a Canon MP130 which is about 3 years old. It prints text fine, but when I print photos on 6 x 4 photo paper, it prints harsh, black streaks on the paper, ruining the picture and wasting the ink. I have tried all the maintenence on my printer properties and cleaned the nozzles with a cotton bud. Could the problem lie in my cheap paper and ink?
