Important Printer Buying Tip: ALWAYS check for the ink cartridge prices before you purchase a
printer. Why? Sometimes cheaper printers end up costing more because its
ink cartridges may be way expensive. You should calculate the "cost of
ownership" per month. The math is simple: (number of prints per month)
times (cost of the cartridge) divided by (the yield of the cartridge).
Yield is the number of pages that can be printed with one particular
cartridge.
For example, assume that average home user prints 150 black pages per
month using a black cartridge that yields 200 pages and costs $28. The
monthly "cost of ownership" is (150 pages) x ($28) = $21

Also look at the printer ink alternatives; besides the
original manufacturer's cartridges (OEMs), you may have the selection of

Versatile and intriguing, the Epson Stylus Photo 1280 printer is sibling
on opposite ends of the spectrum. The wide-format 1280 is clearly for
prosumers.
The 1280 is a wide-format printer: It can create prints with up to 2,880
by 720 dpi and borderless prints up to 13-by-44 for banners. Physically,
it looks nothing like the 785EPX; instead, it resembles an old
dot-matrix printer (flat and wide), and it lacks memory slots for media
cards.
Epson Stylus Photo 1280 printer scored in the middle of the pack on our
photo performance tests. We noticed output problems on our high-quality
photo test: Thin white lines seemed lost against a black background,
possibly the result of overeager edge enhancement technology.
