Series quickly delivers great results on any paper. The key to the
BJC-4400's remarkable print quality is Canon's exclusive Drop Modulation
Technology. The printhead produces both regular and half-size ink drops
on each print line, for incredibly lifelike color. The BJC-4400 Series
can even give true photo-quality output on plain paper when you use
Canon Photo Inks. You'll also enjoy crisp black text that's a pleasure
to read. Plus, you can add the Canon IS-22 Color Image Scanner
Cartridge, which instantly turns your printer into a 360 dpi color
sheetfed scanner. You'll be able to add great-looking photos,

Canon's BJC-4400 isn't as flashy and doesn't print as nicely as the
company's BJC-5000, but it prints at similar speeds and has some of the
same useful features--for $70 less. One of the 4400's unique features is
an oversize black ink cartridge, which prints long text documents about
twice as fast as the typical set of ink cartridges and reduces the
chances of running dry in the middle of a job, much like the 5000's
mix-and-match ink cartridge scheme.
Too bad about the 4400's print quality. The printer is perfectly fine
for personal letters, but you wouldn't want to print your résumé on it.
Normal-size text has rough edges, and larger fonts are distorted.
Although graphics look somewhat better, revealing good detail, their
colors lack subtlety.
