Printer Cartridges
There are many different types of printer cartridges in the market. there
are the OEM, remanufactured and compatible ink or toner cartridges and
refill kits.
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. OEMs, such as HP, Canon,
Epson, Lexmark are the companies that manufacture your printers. OEM ink or
toner cartridges are cartridges that are branded under your OEM's brand.

Recycled ink cartridges that are disassembled by third parties (other
than OEMs) and have their worn parts replaced are called remanufactured
cartridges. To guarantee print quality, remanufactured ink or toner
cartridges are refilled, tested in the factory and repackaged. |

Some companies only sell the remanufactured toners where the drum
has been changed in each toner (which makes the life of the toner cartridge
much longer). But most companies sell cheaper remanufactured toner
cartridges without changing the drum inside. So when choosing your toner
cartridge, be sure to choose a retailer that replaces the drumin each toner.
Then there are compatible ink or toner cartridges (replacements) which
are manufactured by third parties (other than OEMs) and are fully compatible
with OEMs. Compatible toner or ink cartridges are the imitation of the OEM
ink cartridges and costs up to 70% less than the OEMs, so why pay more. They
are also just plug and print, just like the OEMs. Unfortunately, Hewlett
Packard doesn't allow third parties to manufacture compatible cartridges, so
nobody can carry them.
Then there the refill kits. Refilling is simply the process of injecting
the printer ink from a bottle into your existing cartridge using a syringe
(which is generally provided in the refill kits). OEMs usually do not tell
their customers that printer cartridges may be reused or recycled many times
before you need a new one. Some manufacturers of refill kits test each ink
refill process. Mostly the instructions come with each refill kit.
The main advantage of remanufactured or compatible cartridges or refill
kits is their price. Their prices are much lower compared to new printer
cartridges.
