Important Printer Buying Tip: ALWAYS check for the ink cartridge prices before you purchase a printer. Why? Sometimes cheaper printers end up costing more because its ink cartridges may be way expensive. You should calculate the "cost of ownership" per month. The math is simple: (number of prints per month) times (cost of the cartridge) divided by (the yield of the cartridge). Yield is the number of pages that can be printed with one particular cartridge. Shared networking is so easy with the HP DeskJet 6127 color inkjet printer. The built-in Ethernet requires no installation or upgrading. Plus, you'll get professional photo-quality print at up to 4,800 x 1,200 optimized dpi color printing on premium photo papers and 1,200 x 1,200 input dpi.
Smart features like paper-saving, automatic two-sided printing (included); an optional 250-sheet second paper tray (not included); and the automatic paper sensor improve efficiency. Printing is fast and efficient with speeds up to 20 pages per minute in black, and up to 13 ppm in color. The unit is backed by a one-year warranty.

HP DeskJet 6127 has USB ports, and its installation is a snap. It automatically prints an alignment page and adjust its printheads as it prints it; no user intervention required. HP DeskJet 6127 has 1,200-by-1,200 black resolution and up to 4,800-by-1,200 in optimized color mode. It uses HP's PhotoREt III technology for improved color layering. From this strong starting point, it diverges.
The HP Deskjet 6127 is rated nearly as fast as the 1100d, though these claims did not hold up on our tests. Draft modes are rated at 20 ppm in black and 13 ppm in color. Normal modes are rated at 7 ppm in black and 5 ppm in color.
A duplexer comes standard, and there's an envelope feed slot in the output tray. One feature in the 6127 that the 1100d can't match is a network interface. As more and more people set up networks for their homes and small offices, this feature becomes increasingly handy. You don't have to leave a computer on to act as a print server so that other computers on the network could use the printer. And you don't have to be a network expert to set it up. When you install the driver, it polls the network and finds the printer on its own.
The 6127 uses the typical HP configuration of a single black cartridge and a separate tricolor tank for cyan, magenta, and yellow. Both cartridges include the printheads, so you get fresh printheads every time you replace the tanks.
The robust driver includes thumbnails and poster printing and even has digital controls for enhancing photo images for printing. A separate utility makes it easy to capture and print the contents of your computer screen. The 6127 had the third lowest cost per page of any printer we tested, at just 4 cents per page, and very good total cost of ownership considering its high purchase price. If only the speed were better!
Print quality will please just about anyone. Text as small as 4 points was legible in all but the boldest fonts; gradient fills were smooth, and alignment was excellent. Colors were vivid, with plenty of detail in deep shadows and in bright highlights on photos. Finally, the photo and graphic print quality was very good.
