If you're looking for a basic inkjet printer and have a low budget then Epson Stylus C42UX may be ideal for you.
Epson Stylus C42UX has an included a slide-out paper output tray. You get a separate black ink cartridge and tri-colour ink cartridge with Epson C42UX. Both the color ink cartridges and black ink cartridge can be installed at the same time. This keeps you from either constantly switching ink cartridges or using a combination of all colors to print black text, thus using that ink cartridge faster than needed.
Epson Stylus C42UX itself is fairly small and fairly fast. There is a very short time between pressing the print button and printing. Print quality on plain paper isn't outstanding but is good enough for general use.

If you are looking for a good scan quality and laser-quality text, Epson CX5400 can be ideal for you. But, Epson CX5400 doesn’t provide memory card slots for printing photos.
Smart Panel Program of Epson CX5400 is divided into 4 sections: Photo (for reprints or saving photo scans), Document (for OCR scans, copying or sending a copy/scan to your fax software), Photo Project (for saving scans to cataloging software or sending them directly to Word or another application) and Share Your Photo (for e-mailing your scan).

It is easy to use Epson C80 with XP. Epson Stylus C80 offers an extremely fast text printing. It also provides great picture quality when printing on glossy paper. But, ink cartridges are relatively expensive and run out even when you don't use them. It is not possible to print in black if a color ink cartridge needs replacing either.
